A Trip On The New Line

My friend Kenny Bell had his sister in law and nephew staying for a few days and kindlly invited me to join them on a day trip to Edinburgh. As the main line is currently closed between Carlisle and Edinburgh due to recent storms we took the opportunity to travel on the new Waverley line from Tweedband. This was an extremely smooth and pleasant journey unfortunately as it is 40 mile drive from Langholm I will continue to travel from Carlisle.

Richard and Margaret enjoying the journey

After arriving at Waverley station we made our way up the Royal Mile and down into the Grassmarket for some lunch, Richard was very keen to try some Haggis which he enjoyed

After lunch we stopped to purchase some cheese from a cheese monger on Victoria Street. I'm sure Tootlepedal will be familiar with this shop.

We then headed for look at the castle from the esplanade

Ramsey Gardens

Princes Street

We were impressed with the grand interior of the Dome in George street

I was quite intrigued by some of the carvings on some of the buildings.

After pleasant few hours in the city we headed back to the station for our train back to Tweedbank.

  1. I know the supplier but I haven't been to his shop. It looks like heaven.
