Holiday Snaps

Most of today's photos are from a recent trip to Gran Canaria. This a very relaxing holiday with plenty of sunshine and refreshments. My travel companions were George and Kenny and we were joined by Kenny's brother Cliff and his friend Paddy. This is an Island that I will certainly visit again sometime in the future, it offers fabulous beaches and spectacular mountain drives of which Kenny, Cliff  and I took the advantages of  a day trip into the mountains.
Hotel pool in the evening.

There were some stunning gardens and houses.

There was some clever beach artists

I loved this bird of paradise plant.

We enjoyed an afternoon at Puerto Mogan, soaking up the sunshine and tasting the local fair

Mt travel companions.

This fish platter was meant for two.

The following shots are a selection from our mountain trip. It was a bit of a whistle stop tour, pausing in one or two villages for at the most 30 minutes but it was nice to see the rural part of Gran Canaria. One village which was quite intriguing because the houses looked quite normal but they were fronts to caves, a modern way of primitive living you could say.

Since I've been home I've had time to visit the Weeping Window of poppies which is currently on display at Carlisle Castle.......

.......preceded by a visit to Haddington where I spent a very pleasant afternoon sitting outside the Waterside Inn reading and watching a family of swans.

  1. That looks like a really good place to go in springtime. No wonder you would like to go again. An excellent set of pictures.

  2. Excellent photographs Sandy. Having just come in from a performance in The Buccleuch Centre it was the last photo of a PINT that got my vote for the best one. It was so warm in the BC and I could just go a cool pint.
