Not the usual Thursday night

 Thursday 18th November
Fred and Irene appeared last night for tea with the idea that Fred and I would go to the Wild life Club later. This was an excursion away from the usual Thursday night at the Archives. We called in and picked Tom up. Jean had phoned earlier to say she was going to give it a miss as she was still feeling out of sorts.

Anyway it was an excellent evening. The speaker was Brian Irving from Carlisle. Brian is manager of Solway Coast A.O.N.B which stretches from the mouth of the river Esk to Maryport. The main purpose of his visit was show his  excellent bird photos and the best way to achieve them. Not only did he impart some really good photographic knowledge but also spoke about the ecology and diversity of the coast. The talk was full of some nice humour and the audience were asking relevant questions which showed the interest he was receiving.

Mr Tootlepedal had to leave at the end of the talk as he had a stew cooking on the stove and it was needing attention. After being served tea and biscuits we headed back home, reluctantly avoiding the Douglas as Fred was driving. Anne and Irene were in good spirits when we got home, no doubts they put the world to rights in their own style.
