Full on

Shot of the Day

As Mr & Mrs Tootlepedal were away to a wool fair at Skipton I was charged with the duty of taking their entries to the show in the morning along with my own. After staging the entries I headed home for some breakfast with the intention of returning later in the morning. I also had lunch to prepare for Neil and the boys who were coming for an over night stay.

When I returned there were animals everywhere.

Tension was starting to build at the dog show

I returned after lunch with Joe and Sandy to discover I had won the Transport section and came second in the Animal section

1st Transport

2nd Animals

I was also delighted to discover Mrs Tootlepedal had done exceedingly well with her entry, not only winning her class but also winning a trophy for best handicraft exhibit and not forgetting Tootlepedal who received third prize in the transport section.

The terrier racing was attracting a bit interest.

The boys spotted bungee contraption and were eager to have a go.

We returned to the main ring to watch the tug o'war between two young farmers clubs.

Returning home is never a straight process with my grandchildren.
Every tree.....

.......and every wall must be climbed

They are full on boys that light up my life.

Another Splendid Show

Charged With Duty
I was charged with the duty of entering Tootlepedals photos in the Langholm Show along with my own as he and Mrs Tootlepedal are languishing in the south of France on holiday. As you can see from Tootlepedals blog

Plenty of Action
I got down to the show field at about 8:30am and there was plenty of action going on with exhibitors staging their exhibits and tractors and impliments getting put in place and as it was a splendid morning everyone was in good spirits.

The Right Decision
After the recent rains the ground underfoot was rather soft and wellies were the fashion item of the day. As far as I had heard the committee ha taken the decision that the show must go on whatever the weather as after last years cancellation another would have been disastrous. In the scheme of things it was the right decision.

After doing my duty I returned home and put my good camera and equipment in the car and headed for Hermitage Castle. This meant travelling up the A7 for approximatlely 8 miles and turning off at Fiddleton Toll Bar. This leads from the Ewes valley over into Hermitage and though quite wild and remote offers some stunning views.

A view between Copshaw & Langholm

On returning to Langholm I went home to have lunch before making my way down to the show field to find out how Tootlepedal and my photos had done. Mr T did very well with a 1st 2nd 3rd and a highly commended. I got a 3rd and highly commended. I've managed to score in all the shows I have entered so I am more than satisfied. Later I met up with Stan  (who got most points in show) and his wife Mag and we all enjoyed a refreshment or two courtesy of the beer tent
