The weeks are passing by at an alarming rate at the moment and now Christmas is on the horizon I'll have to get myself organised and complete my Christmas shopping in the coming week. Little has happened since I last posted, just grey days, chilly days and wet days. I'm still nursing my back problem which is rather troublesome and finding it hard to get going in the mornings. I'm keeping this post very short as I have very little of interest to write about., except I did spend a pleasant Sunday afternoon at the local pantomime production of Mother Goose, this was extremely good fun with some well placed corny jokes and plenty of audience participation.

Another Gray Day
We woke to another gray day, so gray in fact that we never got much daylight throughout the day. I've put the ebike away for the winter months which is why I've not posted for a while and also I'm having on going trouble with sciatica at the the moment and having to work through the pain barrier in the mornings.
I spent the morning leisurely putting a week into the archive database, then went for a stroll round the Castleholm to ease my back problem, this certainly works and the rest of the day was relatively pain free.

Apparently we had a bit of a storm through the night to which I was oblivious. This tree came down just along the road, luckily it fell away from the houses in the background
I paused on the Galaside to watch a rugby match that was being played on the 3G pitch.....
.......between Langholm U14's and Annan U14's
This tree trunk caught my eye on Mary Street.
A fair bit of water passing through the arches,
This is one of a pair of dippers that were dipping along the edge of the river.
Both the Esk and Ewes rivers were quite full from last nights rain.
Staying close to shore
An attractive walk at anytime of year, even on a gray day.

Mexico
After leaving Las Vegas we traveled to Cancun in Mexico. This was intended to be a more laid back relaxing holiday after the whirlwind week we had in Vegas. We were met by very friendly staff and shown to our accommodation. The complex was was very tropical with a variety of birds and wildlife roaming freely around the site. I'm keeping this post relatively short as most of the shots are more holiday snaps and I don't want to bore my readers too much
Even the Iguanas were happy to strike a pose for us.
One of the highlights of the week was a trip to the ancient Mayan city of Chchen Itza. this involved a rather long two hour journey through the jungle but well worth the journey.
The vendors that were dotted about the sight had some colourful displays.
I apologies for the lack of narrative with this post but I have been suffering from a rather nasty sickness bug and I'm struggling for words but I wanted to try and get this post online before the new year, the photos will have to do the talking

That Sunday Feeling.
After a very nice Christmas with a friend in Carlisle I traveled to Haddington to spend a few days with my Grandchildren. They got the presents they wanted from their parents, so they were very happy boys when I arrived. After exchanging presents we sat down to a nice meal of roast ham and left over trimmings, then played games.
The following day I took myself a walk down by the river. It was hard to accept it was Tuesday it had more of a Sunday feeling. The walk was pleasant and mild for the time of year and there were many like minded people taking the same opportunity.
Looking up river the light produced an almost monochromatic effect, whilst......
.....down river it appeared much more colourful.
Farther down river I paused to admire the light on the water cascading over the weir which originally produced the power for he local textile mills, which are all gone now.
A duck race.
I liked the line of the trees
The Tyne seems to take on an almost quintessential English appearance.
Probably this is the only building left that the water at the weir was divert to run It is know run by the Lamp of Lothian Trust.
Before I left the Tyne I stopped take take a shot of the Nungate bridge and the Waterside Inn, before setting off home....
....to pass by the windows at the enteranct to the John Gray Centre.
The strange growths on this tree took my eye.....
......as did this growth on a post did.
